This is the home of the Carswell Family Association.  It's brand new, and still under construction.  Please feel free to let me know if you have any suggestions regarding what should go here :)
The purpose of the site is to allow Carswell's worldwide to find one another, to host and provide discovery services for Carswell geneological information, and to provide information on projects relating to the Carswell family and the Carswell name.

Special Thanks to Scotweb

We'd like to take the opportunity to express our gratitude to Dr. Nick Fiddes and the other fine folks at Scotweb for granting us permission to use their artwork depicting the Lanark tartan.  Scotweb offers an extensive selection of products in Lanark tartan, as well as other tartans, and, in addition, is an invaluable research tool.

The Carswell Family Association needs your help!

We are in need of Carswell-related art/graphics for use on the website.
  • A graphic of the Carswell coat-of-arms
  • A graphic of the Carswell tartan (I believe this to be the "Lanark" tartan)
  • Photos of "Carswell Castle"
  • Photos of notable Carswells
  • Maps of interest to Carswells
  • etc.

Please note carefully:
Any art provided for use on the website must meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • be in the public domain
  • be licensed under a "copyleft" license or under Creative Commons licensing
  • be accompanied by written permission for use on the website, from the copyright holder

Is this the true Carswell coat-of-arms?

Great fanfare surrounds the launch of the new Carswell Family Association website!

The Carswell Family Association yet lives!
The site is intended (eventually) to be a hub where Carswells worldwide can find one another, exchange geneological and other Carswell-related information, and to host information regarding projects underway that might be of interest to Carswells.
You can find contact info here.  Feel free to email us with suggestions, comments, etc.
Eventually, there will be a DoC ("Directory of Carswells"), a listing of projects and events of interest to Carswells, etc.
